Sosicon is written by Espen Andersen, who is a journalist and developer at the Norwegian Broadcast Corporation (NRK). He is working with computer assisted reporting in the current affairs department. This software is the result of efforts made during work hours as well as spare time.
SOSI is the primary file structure for exchanging geospatial information within government bodies in Norway. It is a highly versatile format, which may contain almost any kind of information in addition to geographical data. Sosicon aims at making these data readily available to developers and map designers at large.
This software is published out of a desire to give something back to the open source community. It is not perfect, bugs and errors will occur.
